Question #01: Who Do You Spend Time With?
It is an easy question to answer. You just need to look back at your last day, week or month and write the list of people you spent some time with. Possibly also noting how much time you spent with each one of them.
Yet, such a simple exercise creates a lot of awareness. The people that surround us affect our behaviour. They can inspire us or make us angry. They can teach something valuable or just drain our energy.
To make that list more interesting, you can also note the reason why you are spending time with each one of them. Is it a choice or a duty? Is it need or desire? Who decided to meet?
Being aware of our relations has two positive effects.
On one side it helps you understand if your relationships are empowering you or not. A lot of studies proved that our relationships have a high impact on our chance to achieve our goals in life. Is your network serving you? Is it helping you to become a better person or is it keeping you down?
The other positive effect is a rise in your self-awareness. The people you spend your time with, are like mirrors. If you look at them, you can get a better idea of who you are, what are your beliefs and values. Your choices and actions speak loud about your inner beliefs, more than your thoughts and words. Look at the values and beliefs of the people you spend more time with. You may discover some truth about yourself.
