One Apple A Day #164
El Bolson, January 5th, 2017
It’s 6:30 in the morning when we wake up. It’s still dark and silent outside. We are early morning guys but, to be honest, the early wake is not deliberate. We would both happily sleep for at least one hour more, but we can’t stand the cold, the claustrophobic tent and the uncomfortable position anymore.
We step out of the tent trying to warm up our feet and relieve our aching backs.
We were not ready for the camping life. The tent is too small, our sleeping bags are not warm enough for these cold nights, and our backs are not fit to lie a whole night on a thin inflatable mat.
And we must remember to avoid onions for dinner if we want to pack ourselves in this tiny tent again in the future.
We quickly pack everything, or at least we try to pack. It’s too cold, and the only thing we can think about is a hot coffee. So, we take advantage of having a truck, and we throw everything on the back of the Crichetta.
In 30 minutes we are ready to move. The café of the camping will not open until 9 am so we jump on Crichetta, and we head South on the Ruta40.
Unfortunately, the road is full of breathtaking panoramas but no café anywhere.
It’s only 9 in the morning, after a lot of kilometres and a long detour towards El Maitén that we can finally put our hands on a wark cup of coffee served by a smiling old lady in tiny local café. We are so happy that we also eat a medialuna (the local croissant).
Now we are ready for the first item in our bucket list; El Viejo Expreso Patagónico.
