One Apple A Day #147
Treviso, January 18th, 2014.
In a pub, in Treviso, two friends drink beer and discuss a significant milestone in their life. They are both born in 1974. It means that this is the year that will mark their entrance into the forties.
It is not the first time they raise the topic between them. They had countless discussions, and beers, to find a remarkable way to celebrate this milestone. To be honest, the idea has always been there. Do a once-in-a-life adventure. And the destination came as soon as they realised that they both were in love with the same part of the world.
But that part of the world is very far from where they live. To live the adventure they seek, they will have to stay away weeks. And there are families, jobs.
So, here they are. Another sip of beer and another look at the map that Andy brought. The finger following the dreamed road down to that point. The most southern city in the world.
A long moment of silence. Each one tries to convince himself that it is a crazy idea. And it is crazy.
And suddenly everything is clear.
They look at each other, and they shared only one word.
“Andiamo.”
The Italian for “let’s go”.
The adventure of their dream is born.
They are going to explore the Patagonia and ride South along the Ruta40.
It will take three long years, and what follows is the story of this adventure.
