One Apple A Day #14
“Can you see something?” Mike whispered, his voice just a fraction higher than a breath.
“No, nothing.” Jane was trying to hide her fear but her voice was broken. She was on the rise of breakdown.
“Me neither. It’s pitch black.” Mike felt the fear in Jane’s voice.
She was on his left. Shoulder against shoulder. She wasn’t crying but he felt her shoulder moving like she was going to collapse any moment. He was scared too. He cannot see anything. When the entered the room he had only the time for a quick glimpse of the inside before the door shut on their back. The room was completely empty. A box made of concrete. The were on the opposite side of the door. At least that was the aimed for when the ran into the room. It has been a while now. He doesn’t now how much.
“I should start wearing a watch”
“What?”, Jane moves slightly towards him.
“nothing”. He never used watches. He hates to keep track of the time.
He hoped that his eyes would adapt and let him see something after a while. It was like they were sealed so well that not event the smaller ray of light was able to pass through. At least the noise stopped as soon as they entered the room. Maybe that thing went away. Or maybe it’s just waiting outside the door.
“What was it?” asked Miked “A dog? A monster?”
“I don’t know. I don’t want to know. I took Amie. I heard her screaming”
Mike’s head was spinning. “This is a nightmare. It has to be a nightmare. These things happen only in King’ books not in real life. “
