People do things, especially things that require a lot of effort when they care. You can see it when we are called to do things for someone or something we love. We don't hesitate and give the best that we have.
We all experienced that with a relative, a friend or your favourite sport.
If we want people to act about something, then we need to inspire them to care.
So, how do we do that when it comes to things like the environment, our cities or communities, or the company in which they work?
You can't just say, "this is important or urgent".
That is talking to the head, not to the heart. And reason does not get people to act. Emotions do.
Yesterday I had a flash observing a leader's behaviour in a workshop.
Caring is contagious.
We inspire people to care about something by showing care for that thing and the people.
You can't convince anyone to care about something. But if you genuinely care about it, it will show through your words and actions.
And that will spark something in others; it will resonate with their heart and inspire them to care too.
