Your destination is the means, not the end.
I jotted this sentence a few days ago while conversing with one of the participants in a program I am facilitating. We were surprised by the unexpected transformations some participants are going through.
The program has some declared objectives. We started from there, helping participants define their own goals, then visualizing who they need to become to achieve those goals and finally developing behaviours and habits they can implement today to act like the future self they envision.
A few are so immersed in their new habits that they are no longer thinking about the final objective. And they are experiencing the most incredible transformations in their life. If we ask them to redefine their goals right now, they would probably set their gaze on something bigger and bolder.
More and more, I'm learning that the real value is in the process, in the journey. The destination is fundamental because, without it, for many, there would be no journey at all. But the destination is not the end; it's the means
What you get by reaching your goals is not nearly so important as what you become by reaching them. — Zig Ziglar
