What energize you?
If you take an honest look at your life, at the work you do, the people you spend time with, the places you go, which ones energize you and which ones consume you?
Yesterday afternoon I was tired, sleepy and with the first signs of a big headache getting ready for the evening. I just wanted to lay down and sleep. But I had a meeting on my agenda.
I wasn't really in the mood for a meeting, but I loved the people I had to meet, and I committed to joining.
So, I collected the little energy left in me and joined the videocall.
I'm happy I did it.
Ninety minutes later, my headache was gone. I was still physically tired, but I could feel a renewed energy.
The meeting recharged me.
While in the meeting, I had a realization.
Our society is built around consuming. We don't consume only resources. We consume ourselves and our energy too.
We consume ourselves and our energy to create something that someone else will consume. So, we have to go on vacations or retreats every now and then to recharge ourselves.
At least the ones who can.
What if we create environments, particularly working environments, that create and infuse energy instead of consuming it? Environments from which you may come home exhausted outside but energized inside?
