The reason that people do things, especially heroic or major things, things that take a lot of effort, is because they care. — Dave Gray
These days I am experiencing the power of taking care of someone or something.
Something magical happens when we give ourselves to something or someone we love and care for. We find strengths and potential within ourselves we didn't know were even there. It is as if many blocks and barriers restricting our potential dissolve by the simple act of taking care of something or someone other than oneself.
And, like magic, joy ensues from the act itself.
That is the true power of love.
For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself. — Viktor E Frankl
So, two thoughts came up for me this morning.
First, to help someone realize their potential, maybe we just need to help them find something or someone to love and take care of, other than themselves.
Second, such joy and strength are unleashed only when we, or at least I, care for others. That's why we need each other. We find happiness by taking care of others. We thrive when others are taking care of us.
