One Apple A Day #1126
This apple is a late one.
I usually write early in the morning as part of my opening practices.
I once read that how you start your day is how you live your day. So, a while ago, I decided to start every day taking care of all the layers of my "self". That includes the body, the heart, the mind, the soul. Writing is my soul practice. This morning I did some stretching and pushup to awaken the body. I meditated in silence, and then I had coffee with a dear friend to kindle the heart and then rushed to the train station. My morning practice was incomplete.
I read an excellent book to feed my mind on the train, but I couldn't find the quiet, outside and inside, to write.
I thought I could do without for today, as it happened many times. Things happen, and I've learned to go with the flow.
So, I just reached my hotel to drop my luggage and go on with my day.
And then it happened. I felt a void. A hole right there in the middle, and I couldn't move on with anything until I found a way to fill it.
I don't know where this feeling is coming from, but I knew I had to write.
So, here I am, at the small desk of my hotel room, the noise of the traffic outside.
I'll use the last two minutes of this practice to share two small ideas that came up this morning while answering a message.
The first one is the importance of learning to play with what we have when we want to innovate something. External boundaries can unleash a massive amount of creative potential.
The second is to let go of the attachment to any form if we really want to innovate. It's so easy to fall in love with our ideas and frameworks that we may become attached to them, and in doing so, we limit our creative potential.
Time to move on with the day.
