One Apple A Day #1102
I have a conflicting relationship with goals. I'm aware of their importance if we are to achieve something, but at the same time, they rarely motivate me into action.
A few days ago, I received the message I sent myself a year ago. It was recharging to read what the old me envisioned and compare it to what I've done. I also realised that I had forgotten all the goals I had set for myself only a year ago.
However, I'm well aware of my struggles with goals, so I'm not obsessed with them. I use them to set the direction, but once I'm off in my journey, I focus entirely on the experience. That allows me to embrace the unexpected and go with the flow.
There is incredible power in not knowing your destination. I've experienced it during my last pilgrimage. Every day I walked without knowing where we were going, the location of our destination, not even how far it was. So, the only thing I could do was walk and pay attention to myself, others, and the world around me.
I believe that goals are important; they just don't work well with me. So I use them as starting points to set my intentions and direction using my little F.R.E.E. process. If you struggle with goals too, you may want to try it out.
