One Apple a Day #1096
Last apple of the year.
I realised that this is the last post of 2021 only once I sat down to write.
If I look out, it seems like a day like any other.
The first light of the day chases out the night at the horizon. The chilly winter breeze flows in from the window. The silence outside is broken only by the church's bell reminding the hours.
An ordinary day, apparently.
Yet, it is not. At least, not in this corner of the world.
Today is like a threshold between the old and the new.
So, we celebrate. We remember the past twelve months and dream about what the next twelve will bring in our lives.
We take stock of the past and make plans for the future.
So, maybe this is what I should do in this post.
However, I'm not good at these things. I don't like to draw lines that divide a before and after. I prefer the lines that interweave past and future, creating the present.
One of those lines is the ability to learn from everyone and everything.
Two weeks ago, as I walked slowly with my fellow travellers, free from all the distractions of everyday life, my attention expanded. And I realised that teachings were waiting for me everywhere, in everything and every person. All I had to do was pay attention.
So what does reality want you to learn today?
Are you ready to go out there and learn?
