Some days I wake up with weird questions in my mind.
What makes an organization? Is an organization an entity on its own, or is it just made of its people? And if people make the organization, what happens if they all leave? Does it still exist?
Weird questions, aren't they?
Some companies have operated for more than a hundred years. None of the people working or leading those companies were there when they started. I'm sure some companies changed locations, logos, purposes or even names in their existence. Are they the same organizations?
What makes them such? And what happened to the ones that disappeared?
According to the dictionary, an organization is an organized group of people with a particular purpose, such as a business or government department.
I don't know where I am going with this. It's probably the cold that's interfering with my cognitive abilities.
Maybe, it's just me realizing that organizations do not exist on their own. They are not like trees or mountains. They are not even like buildings or bridges.
They are intangible human constructs. A sort of shared dream or vision. We create them in every moment, so we can change them at every moment. And maybe, that's also why it's so complicated to change them.
