I know that as a human being, my potential is unlimited.
Yet, I am unable to express a large part of this potential.
I know it's there, in me, but I can't let it shine fully.
I also know that what stops me from expressing my full potential are my beliefs and conditioning. The stories in my head that I built through my life experiences.
I know all this, but it is not enough to overcome those barriers and allow my full potential to flow.
Knowing is not enough.
Take a look at the image above. Squares A and B are the same shade of grey. Yet, B appears lighter than A, once surrounded by darker squares and partly shadowed by another object.
Even if now you know the trick, you can't unsee the illusion.
The stories that our brains create are so compelling that we can't avoid falling for them even if we know that they are just stories or illusions.
They are built over years and years of life experiences.
So, are we doomed?
No, but we need to cultivate compassion and patience.
By being intellectually humble and curious, we can learn to recognise the stories that are not serving us anymore and maybe build new ones.
