One Apple A Day #100
One hundred!
Let me write it again; ONE HUNDRED!
I wrote the first post 117 days ago, on February the 17th.
When I started, I wasn’t sure if it was going to stick. I didn’t have a clear goal for my writing, and I still don’t have it. I had to find at least 15 minutes every day and something to write about. But I’ve made it so far, and I’m not planning to stop, at all. It bears repeating that the whole project named “One Apple A Day” has only one purpose; to verify if a positive habit is a powerful tool.
Months ago, I found myself demoralised by my inability to achieve the goals I set. I wasn’t able to stick to my well-crafted plans. I was struggling with my lack of willpower, and I didn’t know what to do to get over this limitation. I started reading about the power of habits and how to install them. But because we are all different and unique it’s not enough to read some methods on a book. Not for me at least. I need to find my way into things. I have to try, observe and adjust until I can make it work for me. It bears repeating that my willpower isn’t something I can rely upon and that I’m not good at sticking to plans. In particular to the detailed ones. And One Apple A Day was born. An experiment to play with the creation of a habit.
I had to minimise the amount of willpower involved, so I kept the exercise shot, 15 minutes a day. I added a bit of external pressure forcing myself to publish whatever I write every day. I didn’t set any goals, so I didn’t need a plan.
Did it work? Today I celebrate my apple number 100. It looks like it is working pretty well.
Onward and upward!
