They say you can't change people; you can only love them.
Yesterday, I attended an event full of inspiring people and talks. A few speakers talked about the challenge of retaining employees and clients.
They presented different experiences and ideas on what they did to increase retention in their companies.
Yet, nobody talked about what may be the best strategy: love.
I believe you can't retain people; you can only love them.
You can't make people love you and want to stay with you, but you can show them that you love them and care for them.
Show, don't tell.
And then let them be free.
That's it.
Will that guarantee they will love you back and decide to stay in your company? No, obviously.
But if they stay, you know it's real.
So, maybe companies should ask themselves not "How do we retain people?" but "How much do we love our people? And are we showing them how much we do love them?"
