Boundaries and Rules
#2025

When I was young, I hated boundaries and rules.
I was a good lad who knew I had to stay within the lines.
But I didn’t like them.
Most of them felt arbitrary and stupid.
Now I watch young people push and push.
Harder and harder.
Like they’re searching for something solid.
And I see adults step back.
Avoid the friction.
Stay comfortable.
Some boundaries I bent.
Others I broke through.
That’s how I found what mattered.
But these kids?
They’re pushing against air.
Are we failing them by making things too smooth?
Even when they hate us for it?
