#1445 - many worlds
These days, my partner and I are dogsitting. We have this cute little dog with us, and twice a day, we walk him out to stretch his legs and take care of his business.
There is very little green around here, just a few rare flowerbeds, and no trees, so every day, we do the same walk around the building.
Yet, every time it looks like we discover something new. These short walks made me realize how blind I am to what surrounds me.
We stroll slowly, partly because the dog is small but also because it looks like he experiences a whole world that's invisible to me. Sometimes he runs to a corner where there's nothing, yet he behaves like he has found a hidden treasure.
His world and my world are different. And so must be the world that everyone on this planet experiences. Every person I meet is a whole world to discover.
We keep looking for other worlds out there in the infinite space. What about the many worlds that exist on this planet?
While reflecting on this in the last few days, I came across someone who had the same realization while walking around with her dog. And she wrote a book about it. So, yesterday I started reading On Looking: About Everything There is to See by Alexandra Horowitz. She walked around her block with 11 different people to discover that the same place contains many worlds.
