#1416 - patience
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!
This famous phrase of unknown origin is an invitation to tackle any large and overwhelming task by breaking it down into smaller, manageable chunks. It's also an invitation to have patience.
When we face a big challenge, we may rush to solve it quickly. Yet, some things take time. And often, in that slowness, there is magic.
It feels like speed is everything nowadays.
You're doomed if you are not quick enough to transform your ideas into something tangible. Yet, I wonder if it has to be like that.
Do you remember the speed, low cost and quality triangle? They say you can only have two of those at the same time.
Because I bought into the idea of speed as the most important thing, I found out at my expense that I paid speed with quality too often. By rushing into things, I missed out on important details.
So, I'm trying to slow down and eat the elephant one bit at a time. Yet, it's not easy, I admit. Sometimes I feel like I'm not making significant progress.
So, this post is to remind myself to practice active patience and keep moving forward with faith that, in the end, I'll create my masterpiece.
