#1409 - what I see

I've been trying to discover who I am since I can remember. The answer, if there is a proper one, has always eluded me. Yet, I always felt part of my answer is the search itself. Seeking is a significant part of my identity.
So, sometimes, while I let my mind wander in my morning practice, this quest for my true identity resurfaces in different guises.
This morning, I found myself thinking about the known adage, "We see things not as they are but as we are."
This famous quote has been attributed to many names, including Anaïs Nin, H. M. Tomlinson, and Steven Covey, but none of them is the author; they just used it. It is just part of the wisdom of humanity.
Anyway, this morning, I pondered these words and wondered, "If I see the world as I am, then by observing what I see, I can learn more about myself."
What about the things that I notice, the ones that capture my attention? What do they say about me? And what about what I see in others?
Maybe that is why I love writing so much about what I see. It's a way to discover a bit more about myself.
