#1393 - meaning making
Working is a meaning-making activity.
Our work is how most of us find or create meaning in our life.
That's why the idea of machines being able to do what you do better and quickly is scary for many.
It's not just because it threatens our ability to provide for ourselves and our loved ones. It may take away something we use to give meaning to our existence. Our society is designed around the idea that we matter if we can create measurable value.
If we can't do that anymore, do we still matter?
Can we still find meaning in our lives?
I believe we can, but it requires a shift in consciousness.
Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfil the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual. — Viktor Frankl
