#1382 - the mountaintop
"I maintain that truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organised; nor should any organisation be formed to lead or to coerce people along any particular path. If you first understand that, then you will see how impossible it is to organise a belief. A belief is purely an individual matter, and you cannot and must not organise it. If you do, it becomes dead, crystallised; it becomes a creed, a sect, a religion, to be imposed on others. This is what everyone throughout the world is attempting to do. Truth is narrowed down and made a plaything for those who are weak, for those who are only momentarily discontented. Truth cannot be brought down, rather the individual must make the effort to ascend to it. You cannot bring the mountaintop to the valley. If you would attain to the mountaintop you must pass through the valley, climb the steeps, unafraid of the dangerous precipices." —Krishnamurti's Dissolution Speech
I love this thought from Krishnamurti. I love it, even if it is challenging. Or maybe I love it precisely for that reason.
Above and beyond everything I do, I see myself as a seeker.
And what I seek is the truth.
Even if I know that truth, being limitless, is unknowable as a whole.
I can't help it.
Yet, some days it is challenging.
As Krishnamurti said, I cannot bring the mountaintop to the valley, so I must ascend it.
However, truth is a pathless land. I can't follow anyone and hope to get to the top. I have to create my path while I walk it.
Feeling lost sometimes is part of the journey.
Yet, some days it is challenging.
