#1371 - habits
Habits are my tool to protect the important things, so they don't get crushed by the urgent ones.
Habits are also essential to keep going where motivation and enthusiasm fade. Motivation is always high when I start something new and meaningful. However, over time, it disappears, and my mind begins searching for new stuff to divert its attention.
Unfortunately, when motivation is high, I feel like I can go on forever, so I often forget to install a new habit to protect what I intend to do. Then, once the motivation drops, I lack the willingness and energy to create the necessary rituals.
So, a friend gave me an idea. And by the way, having regular conversations with inspiring friends is a habit I’ve let go of, but it's coming back.
I am going to reinstall the habit of having habits. Years ago, when I realized the power of having healthy habits, I also created a structure to support the creation of those habits. I used strategies and tools that I mainly got from the work of Darren Hardy and James Clear. Then I thought, "I got it! I cracked the code, and now I can go alone.” Now I know that even if I know how it works regarding habit, I still need the right tools. So, it’s time to dig out some old stuff.
How do you keep yourself on track when motivation fades?
