#1292 - Perseverance
Perseverance is a superpower.
Maybe not a fancy one, but very powerful.
It s also an almost invisible one.
It is not as colourful as creativity or curiosity.
Not as celebrated as courage or optimism.
Yet, it multiplies exponentially even the smallest gift or talent.
The dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.
Perseverance is an essential attitude to nurture and develop if we want to achieve something remarkable. Yet it is often overlooked. Probably because nobody likes to endure difficulties, failures and opposition. Or maybe it's because perseverance requires accepting that not everything is in our control and things can take unexpected turns.
And there's the problem of time. We all want results soon. The speed of growth is one of the primary measures of success.
Yet, lasting success takes time.
Sometimes a lot of time, difficulties, failures and opposition.
The ones who endure all of that are often the ones we celebrate.
As Nietzsche once wrote, "with regard to everything that is perfect we are accustomed to omit the question as to how perfection has been acquired, and we only rejoice in the present as if it had sprung out of the ground by magic."
