#1259 - nuances and shades
Good and evil.
Very simple and straightforward, like in the fables we used to read when we were kids. The good ones being just that; good and capable of always doing the right thing. The evils being the exact opposite, seeking only ways to create pain and suffering.
Then we grow up and discover that reality is way more complex than that. There are many nuances in human beings and infinite shades between good and evil.
Yet, the desire to ignore those shades and split the world into two sides remains. We struggle to accept that someone good can cause pain or that even an evil person can do something good.
Anytime we ignore human beings' complexity and messiness and put someone into absolute categories like good and evil or right and wrong, we are cutting out possibilities.
It becomes particularly complicated when we look inward.
Who am I in my story? Am I good or evil?
I would say I am one of the good ones. But I also did things some bad things.
I'm just a human being.
Complex, messy and with an infinite range of shades.
