#1258 - A hint
A hint or a prompt.
It's all I need most of the time.
It may be a phrase, a quote, an image or just a word.
A point around which I can start weaving words to create the space for something to emerge.
There are days when I can clearly feel there's a story or an idea within me, ready to come out. But I don't know where to start, so whatever I have to share is stuck inside.
Until I found a prompt that unlocks the gates so words can flow.
Often, the prompt has apparently nothing to do with what comes out. In that sense, the prompt is more like a stone than a key. Something I can throw at the barrier stopping my creative flow to break it. Any stone would work: big or small, a rounded pebble or a sharp fragment of rock, a scrap of metal. Whatever I can use to smash that wall.
And it's not only me.
It works in every workshop I facilitate.
All participants have beautiful and inspiring personal stories to share. They just need a little push, a small rock to shatter the wall holding back their inner magic.
Usually, I use the BeTheChange cards created by my friend Vanessa. And they never fail me. Every time, everyone feels they have picked precisely the card they needed.
And the stories flow.
