#1249 - Mystery
"The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience." — Frank Herbert (science fiction author best known for the novel Dune)
Some days, I need to remind myself that the mystery of life is not a problem to solve. I'm so used to looking at everything through the lens of the problem solver that I often get trapped in that dynamic.
I want to understand and find some kind of logic to help me solve the mystery. And in doing that, I forget to live it and experience it to its fullest.
It's like taking myself out of the flow of life itself to observe it from a distance. Trying to find patterns and models. In the meantime, life goes on, and I'm not savouring it.
To be comfortable with the discomfort of not knowing is one of my spiritual practices.
Sure, I can't deny my nature. Seeking answers is who I am.
Asking questions, particularly the ones for which there are no answers, fuels my life.
Yet, at the same time, I'm learning to accept that I'll never fully grasp the mystery of life.
It's a dance that keeps me moving forward.
