#1247 - keep moving
"In the cycle of nature there is no such thing as victory or defeat: there is only movement." — Paulo Coelho
I read from Coelho earlier this morning, and it resonates with recent things I've experienced or witnessed.
So, to dig out some profound wisdom, I started exploring the idea of victory and defeat, success and failure. I wrote the first well thought sentences and elaborated concepts only to realize that I was complicating something very simple.
Have you ever gone through a painful failure or made a mistake that later proved to be one of the best things in your life? Or vice versa, successes that became a burden?
Me, I had quite a few of both.
Yet, looking back, I realize that what got me through and beyond victories and failures is that I kept moving.
It is so easy to fall trap of defeat. Using our bitterness and resentment as a shovel, we dig our own hole until we can't see the way forward anymore.
But it's so easy to get stuck in our victories and successes. We become complacent and forget to grow and evolve until it's too late.
So, I guess it's essential to keep moving no matter what.
If you win, celebrate the victory and then keep moving.
If you lose, acknowledge your pain, learn from the loss and keep moving.
So, maybe I can humbly rewrite Cohelo's quote: "as long as you keep moving, there is no such thing as victory or defeat: there is only the cycle of nature."
