#1246 - Wandering
"Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between men and the universe." — Anatole France
Every morning I follow almost the same ritual. I wash my face with cold water, make the bed, exercise for at least fifteen minutes, meditate for ten minutes and write my daily apple for another fifteen minutes.
To be honest, thou, I don't really meditate. At least, not how meditation should be. I tried on my own and using guided meditation, but I can't find that stillness and emptiness of thoughts I believe I should achieve.
What I do is wander.
I sit with my eyes close for ten minutes, some hypnotic music looping, and I let my mind wander. I don't try to focus on something; it would be pointless. I don't set any direction; I let it be. And I don't try to remember what flows through my awareness. I know that if there is something worth remembering, it will leave a trace that I'll be able to follow when I need it.
At all times, my mind tends to wander, but I usually need to give a direction and purpose to that wandering. It's more like an exploration.
But these ten minutes every morning are a tiny free space where every thought is possible, and through my wandering, I find harmony and peace.
