#1304 - You never know
"Having lost sight of our goals, we redouble our efforts." — Mark Twain.
Last Friday, Facebook reminded me that I shared this quote a few years back. I still think there is a lot of truth in these words. For sure, I can resonate with them. I remember a few occasions when I increased my effort because I forgot where I was going.
Anyway, I shared that quote before I started this writing habit, so I thought it was a good starting point for one of my daily apples. I saved it for Monday because I don't post during the weekend.
This morning, I opened my editor and found Twain's words at the top of this blank page. I almost forgot about them, but I thought, "great, I already have my opening!"
Yet, after a few minutes of contemplation, I didn't know where to go. Those words are still wise, but I have nothing else to add. And the clock was ticking because, as usual, I gave myself limited time for this practice.
Has it ever happened to you?
You have the most fantastic idea one day, and a few days later, that same idea feels worthless. It happens to me quite often. Over the years, however, I've learned that there is always something valuable in those crazy ideas. They are often bizarre packages to some tiny but good ideas.
That's why I never discard anything. You never know what can spark.
Worst case, they become a good prompt for my morning writing.
