#1300 - I wish it was easy
When things are tough, sooner or later, I end up listening to the song Change by Blind Melon.
I did it this morning after the song's last verse came up in my meditation.
When life is hard, you have to change.
I want to change.
However, I've learned that wanting something is not enough.
I wish it were, but it's not.
Change requires work, patience, consistency and discipline.
It is rarely the outcome of a moment and more the deliberate daily practice of who I want to become.
Because my body and my mind don't like changes.
They resist.
It's understandable.
It took me 48 years to become the person I am and to learn to do things how I do them today.
Sure, something can happen that turn a life upside down.
But mostly, it's doing the work.
Everyday.
And finding help.
We unconsciously build so many invisible barriers to sabotage any effort to change. We need someone to help us see what we can't see from the inside. So we can break through and begin to change.
